Based on the true story of American ballerina Joy Womack, JOIKA draws us into the quest of a teenage aspiring ballerina who leaves her Texas home and family to be thrust into the world of Russian ballet as one of the first Americans accepted into the Moscow Bolshoi Academy. Training under a legendary teacher, Joy pursues her dream of becoming a prima ballerina at the Bolshoi Company at all costs – until ultimately, she alone must decide what price she is willing to pay to make her dream of a reality
